Max also fourth in FP2: "A positive start to the weekend."

Published on 10 June 2016 by Stefan Meens

After finishing fourth in FP1 of the Canadian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen also claimed P4 in the second free practice session. Lewis Hamilton, like earlier on the day, topped the leaderboards. Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg completed the top three. Max's Red Bull Racing colleague Daniel Ricciardo finished fifth, only a hundredth slower than his Dutch team mate.

“It was a positive day”, said Max to Verstappen.nl. “But there's still some work to do. The Ferraris are slightly faster than us and everyone else is also trying to improve. But the track suits me and the car felt good.”

“I'm happy with the balance of the car, but now we'll start fine-tuning. Hopefully that gives us more performance. We've also been able to understand the new power unit better. The first feeling is positive and more power is always good. I'm really enjoying it, Montreal is a challenging track so it's a positive start to the weekend.”

Max hit the ground running at the start of FP2. Together with world champion Lewis Hamilton, Max is vying for P1 in the opening half an hour. In the remainder of the session, Nico Rosberg and Sebastian join the duo with their fastest laps.

In the end, after 29 laps and after switching from the super-soft to the ultra-soft Pirellis, Max's fastest time (1:15.156) is only nine tenths slower than Hamilton's quickest lap around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
