Max previews the race: “Looking promising”

After qualifying at the Hockenheimring, where Max Verstappen finished quite nicely in fourth, he previews the race on Sunday. “It looks quite promising. Hopefully we then have the same speed. It will be an interesting race and I hope we can follow the Mercedes and have enough speed to create a gap to the Ferrari’s.”
Where are the opportunities? “The first lap will probably offer many possibilities, but with the right speed, more chances will come. It will be important to see who can manage their tyres the best. As to the long runs, we appear to be more competitive here than in Hungary compared to Mercedes. That surprised us as well.”
The RB12 seems very stable in the corners. Is that the strong point of the Red Bull Racing-car? “Our car has a lot of grip, especially at the rear. It helps when exiting a corner to get back quickly on the throttle. The last sector in Barcelona was a very good example of that.”
There are many fellow countrymen here in Germany, who cheer you on very loudly when you pass by. Is that noticeable at all in the car? “No, I don’t hear any of that. The one time I actually heard something in the car, was in Mexico, when Perez passed me in the stadium section. That was the first time I ever heard fans cheering. But maybe that will be different when we’re at Spa”, Max concludes with a smile.
