Video: Max taught how to row in Mexico-City

Published on 02 November 2016 by Niels Hendrix

Ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix Max Verstappen was thaught how to row by Patrick Loliger. At Lago Mayor de Chapultepec the Dutchman got a rowing session with the Mexican athlete.

“I’ve been trying to learn a bit of rowing. The most difficult thing was to stabilize yourself. I definitely enjoyed it”, says Max. “The boat looks really cool as well! It’s fully carbon. I had good fun.” The Formula 1 driver continues about Patrick Loliger: “He was definitely a very good teacher for me. In the five minutes we had I think he did a great job, he taught me the right things.”

“In The Netherlands rowing is quite a popular sport. I’ve just never done it, never had the time. Maybe I’ll try to do a bit more of this.” According to Max, he might benefit from it: “In terms of training rowing is very good. Even for a Formula 1 driver: rowing very good for your shoulders and your back, and those areas need to be very strong when you’re driving a Formula 1 car as well. I think there are definitely some similarities between the two sports.”
