Pirelli announces tyre selection for Brazilian Grand Prix

Published on 03 November 2016 by Mike Motilall

The F1 sole tyre supplier Pirelli has revealed the different tyre selections for the Brazilian Grand Prix. The Italian based company supplies three tyre-compounds every GP-weekend. It is mandatory for the teams to use two during the race.

On the Interlagos circuit in São Paulo, this round the drivers have Pirelli’s hard, medium and soft compound tyres at their disposal. The top teams differ slightly from each other regarding tyre choices. Both Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo go for one set of the harder compound, five sets of the medium and seven sets of the super. The Mercedes-drivers opt for one set of the hard, four of the mediums and eight sets of the softs.

Within Ferrari there is a small difference. Sebastian Vettel has one set of the harder tyres at his disposal apart from five sets of the medium and seven of the softs. Kimi Raikkonen, as one of the few, has selected two sets of the harder compound and one set less of the mediums than his German team mate. Finally, it is apparent that the Williams-drivers have the most sets of the softer tyres at their disposal, nine sets, while they are allowed to only use three sets of the mediums.
