Max at Exact Live: "The goal is clear: world champion"

Max Verstappen’s sponsor Exact organised its annual Exact Live event for the fifth time. Due to the 19-year-old F1’s preparations for the Brazilian Grand Prix upcoming weekend, Max joined the event via a live stream for an interview.
Reflecting back on the season thus far, three races stand out to Max. First of all, his maiden Grand Prix victory in his very first race for Red Bull Racing. “Of course Barcelona is the first one that comes to mind, but both the races at Silverstone and Suzuka were really good. There were many good moments but those three were the most positive. And the goal is clear: world champion."
Despite the successes this early into his Formula 1 career, Max tries to stay with his feet firm on the ground. “It’s important to stay neutral as both positive and negative opinions come your way. It’s important to keep doing your thing and make it count on the track.”
One of the big differences between F1 and his early days in karting, is the advanced technical knowledge required. “When I was in karts, I worked on my own karts, but now the mechanics do that for me. I would love to get my hands dirty but that’s a thing of the past now."
On the other hand, working alongside and with a team of dedicated engineers and mechanics is rewarding too. The teamwork, dedication and ambitions required, resonate with Exact. Max is therefore pleased to partner with the software solution company. “Our collaboration has already brought us this far. I’m happy to be a part of it and for the future it is looking positive.”
Talking about teamwork, communication with the team is vital. Not just in the garage but also on track. “The communication varies. Some races, it’s quiet for ten laps, or I’ll ask them to be silent. But sometimes, when under pressure or on different strategies, we talk every lap.”
Looking ahead to Brazil, Max is hoping for rain. “In the wet, engine power is less vital and with our excellent grip, we do really well in the rain”, explains Max before talking us through his final preparations before the penultimate Grand Prix weekend. “Tonight we’re having a team dinner, which is always fun. Tomorrow morning I’m chatting to the media and I’ll be at the FIA press conference. That one will no doubt be fun”, concludes Max with a cheeky smile.
