Felipe Massa led the way during the first morning of the second pre-season test at Barcelona. The Williams driver clocked a 1:19.726, two tenths quicker than Daniel Ricciardo in the RB13. The Brazilian and Australian were the only drivers below the 1min20 mark.
Sebastian Vettel continued Ferrari’s impressive reliability form by lapping the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya 82 times. Massa completed 67 laps, followed by Esteban Ocon in the Force India (59) and Ricciardo (52).
In contrast, Jolyon Palmer and Renault struggled with only 15 laps on the board. Technical problems forced the team to replace the RS17’s power unit, blocking any further morning running.
Looking at the lap times, the top four set their fastest laps all on a different Pirelli compound. Massa set the quickest lap on the super-soft Pirellis, followed by Ricciardo on the ultra-soft. Lewis Hamilton clocked his fastest effort on the soft, followed by Ocon on the super-soft tire.
