Jos finished 10th in the Grand-Prix of San Marino. Again Jos had a fantastic start on wich he climbed to 16th place with Mika Salo behind him on 17th. After a pitstop in which electronics prevented him from driving away smoothly and a lesser set of tires, Jos lost a place to his teammate Mika Salo. Although the car felt better, and a better position of his seat, the car had a speed shortage on the straight. The race was won by Heinz-Harald Frentzen who had his first Grand-Prix victory, with Michael Schumacher on second place and Eddy Irvine on third. Jacques Villeneuve had to give up, suffering electrical problems from his gearbox.
