Pirelli, Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier, has announced the tyre choices from the teams for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Since the Monaco Grand Prix, the drivers are allowed to choose how they will divide the thirteen sets of tyres they have at their disposal, from the three tyre compounds Pirelli has selected. During the race weekend, on the street circuit in Baku, the teams will be using the soft, super soft and ultra-soft compounds. From every compound it is mandatory to choose at least one set of tyres.
McLaren opts once more for a more aggressive approach. The Woking based team is going for ten sets of the super soft compound for both of their drivers. The three top teams have gone for eight sets of the super softs. Red Bull Racing has chosen two sets of the medium compound and three of the softs, while Mercedes and Ferrari have opted for one set of mediums and four sets of the soft compound tyres.
