Pirelli announces tyre choices Austrian Grand Prix

Pirelli, Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier, has announced the tyre choices the teams have made for the upcoming Austrian Grand Prix. The drivers will have the soft, super-soft and ultra-soft compound tyre at their disposal during the weekend at the Red Bull Ring.
McLaren has once again gone for a more aggressive strategy, something they have been doing so far for the entire season. They have gone for ten sets of the ultra-softs, two sets of the super-softs and just one set of the softs. Force India has followed suit.
This time round, Red Bull Racing will also go for the ultras more often. The squad from Milton Keynes has gone for no less than nine sets as oppose to Mercedes (eight) and Ferrari (seven). Max Verstappen and team mate Daniel Ricciardo will also have two sets of the softs and two sets of the super-softs at their disposal.
Striking is that the choice for the soft and super-soft compound tyres are different at Mercedes and Ferrari between the two drivers. Valtteri Bottas and Sebastian Vettel have both gone for an extra set of the super-softs compared to their team mate. The same goes for Williams’ driver Lance Stroll and Sauber’s Marcus Ericsson as well.
