Max looks ahead at Silverstone: “Difficult to predict”

Published on 12 July 2017 by Mike Motilall

With the British Grand Prix knocking on the door, Max Verstappen looks ahead at the weekend at Silverstone. “The first thing that comes to mind when I think of the weekend at Silverstone, is the track itself. It is one of the nicest tracks in the world to drive on with its fast corners, great combination of turns and not too many start-stop corners. That is what we want as drivers.”

“My favourite part is Maggots and Beketts, the most challenging part. Overtaking on Silverstone is difficult, but on the straight, after the fast corners, with DRS it is possible.”

With Red Bull Racing’s factory half an hour away from Silverstone, the Milton Keynes squad sees the British Grand Prix, after Austria, a bit like their second home race. Max continues: “For most of the teams, this is their home Grand Prix, that attracts a huge crowd. Also family members of the mechanics are on the grand stand. What I can still recollect from last year, is that when I overtook Nico Rosberg from the outside, it was something that played into Lewis Hamilton’s hand regarding his chances for the title. It felt good that the crowd cheered me on to stay ahead of Rosberg.”

Regarding his chances for the coming weekend, Max remains cautious: “It is a bit hard to predict where we stand. The last races, the car hasn’t performed badly and got better gradually. Hopefully with some new updates on the car, we will have a good weekend.”
