Max: “I don’t consider myself favourite in Brazil”
Published on 10 November 2017 by Mike Motilall
Last year Max gave a masterclass in the Brazilian wet race. He worked his way up from P16 all the way to the podium in the closing stages of the race. One opponent after the other was demoted on the wet tarmac.
“It is of course nice to be back here in Brazil, but to be honest, I am no longer busy with last year’s race actually. It is now 2017, that was 2016,” says Max in a very down to earth manner. He also hasn’t watched the race again recently. “Last year I did watch the race again, when it was, by chance, aired.”
Red Bull Racing is actually in good form off late and is up for the prizes as well. Two weeks ago, Max seized a win in Mexico quite dominantly. The Dutchman however wants to stress that this time it’s a new round with new opportunities.
“The last four races, our car was the fastest. If that’s the case here in Brazil, we’ll have to wait and see. I don’t consider myself a favourite, you always need to start from scratch. But I feel quite revived and am for sure hungry. Absolutely.”
