Quiet morning for Max on second day of Barcelona pre-season test
Published on 27 February 2018 by Stefan Meens
On his first morning of testing, Max Verstappen only managed eleven laps in the new RB14. A combination of low temperatures and a fuel leak, prevented the Red Bull Racer from completing more laps of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya during the opening week of teh 2018 Formula 1 season.
When the second test day gets underway, the conditions are far from ideal to run F1 cars. Due to snowfall overnight, the track is damp and cold. Therefore, the circuit remains quiet during the first hour, apart from a couple of installation laps.
Luckily, blue skies and the sun help push the track temperatures up and in the closing stages of the morning, the teams are starting to add to their testing lap tally. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) is most productive, with over fifty laps completed.
Apart from an installation lap, Max has not been able to complete any laps of the Barcelona circuit in the morning. However, the team has worked hard to fix the fuel leak and the Dutchman is back on track, upping his lap count to eleven as the clock strikes 1pm.
Full results will be included in our test day 2 round-up later today.
