Tyrrell has announced that the arrival of the new Ford ED5 engine requires the expansion of the team's test programme. Therefore it is likely that the team will enlist Brazilian Ricardo Rosset, former teammate of Jos at Arrows in 1996, to assist with testing duties towards the end of this month. Ricardo recently completed a seat fitting and it is expected that his first test will be at Silverstone on May 28 or 29.

The Ford ED5 engine features many new components which Ford believes will deliver increased power, with lower inertia and weigth and a higher operating speed, revving up to 15,000 rpm, an increase of 500 rpm over the ED4. Initial impressions from Jos and Mika indicate that the modifications have created a noticeable improvement in driveability and straigth-line speed.
