Pirelli announces tyre choices Belgian Grand Prix

Pirelli, Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier, has announced the tyre selection the different teams have made for the Belgian Grand Prix. On the 7,004 kilometer long circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, the drivers will have the medium, soft and super-soft tyres at their disposal.

McLaren’s extreme reserved strategy is something that is immediately noticeable. The Woking based team has selected the least amount of super-softs by far. As oppose to the other drivers, who have gone for a minimum of six sets of the red striped rubbers, Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne will have to make do with just four sets. Williams on the other hand are on the attack, they will be running on no less than nine sets of the super-softs.

The top teams have some other differences as well. Mercedes have gone for three sets of the medium compound for the Grand Prix-weekend in the Ardennes. Sebastian Vettel (two) and Kimi Raikkonen, Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen (one) have less. This enables the Red Bull racers to have an extra set of the super-soft compound compared to their German counterpart.
