Norberto Fontana has been called up by Sauber to replace the injured Gianni Morbidelli. Fontan has been the team's testdriver from 1995. As last year Fontana competes in the Formula Nippon (=Formula 3000) championship in Japan. In 1995 he won the German Formula 3 series and the Marlboro Masters of Formula 3.
Gianni Morbidelli meanwhile underwent an operation on his broken arm last Friday. He will be out of action for about six weeks and will leave the hospital later this week.
