Pirelli announces tyre choices Australian GP

Pirelli, Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier, have announced the tyre choices the different teams have made for the Australian Grand Prix. During the race weekend on the Albert Park Street Circuit, the teams have at their disposal three compounds: the C2, C3 and C4. The C2 (the hardest compound) is the white striped tyre while the C3 (medium) and C4 (soft) are striped respectively yellow and red.
The three top teams of 2018 have largely made the same choice. All three teams have gone for nine sets of the soft compound. Both Mercedes’, both Aston Martin Red Bull Racing-drivers and Ferrari running Sebastian Vettel have opted also for three sets of the medium compound tyre and one set of the hard compound. For Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari, the Italians have allocated an extra set of the hard compound tyre instead of a set of mediums.
The Renault outfit have taken a more aggressive approach for the season’s opener. The French will be running on no less than ten sets of the softest rubber available. Racing Point F1 and Williams are the most reserved of all the teams and are taking only eight sets of the soft compound with them to Down Under for their drivers.
