he qualification started boring however ended exciting. Several drivers took provisional pole like Barrichello, Ralf Schumacher, Coulthard, Villeneuve, Michael Schumacher and Frentzen. Until the finish flag Villeneuve still had pole position, however Michael Schumacher still was driving in his last lap. At the finish line he was 0.013 sec faster then Villeneuve and took the pole position from him.
