Jacques Villeneuve will have to defend his negative pronouncements about the 1998 regulations in front of a F.I.A. comitee in Paris next Wednesday. On several occasions the Canadian has ventilated his outspoken view about next year's grooved tyres which will replace the slicks. This hearing is of course very inconvenient for Villeneuve as he is preparing for his home Grand Prix next Sunday. The F.I.A. however did not want to rescedule the meeting. Villeneuve however is not the only driver to criticise the changes, also Eddie Irvine and David Coulthart have already shown their dissaproval. Williams testdriver Jean-Christophe Boullion already has a lot of mileage under his belt with a 1998-spec car.He descibed the car as impossible to drive and dangerous. "We have far too much power for the downforce we have got." according to Boullion who lapped eight seconds slower at Silverstone than Villeneuve who was driving a regular car.
