Aston Martin Red Bull Racing is set to leave Formula 1 fans shaken and stirred at this weekend’s British Grand Prix as Aston Martin and the world of James Bond celebrate F1’s 1007th race.
To honour a number forever associated with the legendary superspy ‘007’ the team and Aston Martin have joined forces with EON Productions, the company behind the James Bond films, to bring a touch of ‘007’ to Silverstone.
Driven by Austrian Grand Prix winner Max Verstappen and teammate Pierre Gasly, the team’s RB15 cars will feature some special additions to its race livery. These additions include the iconic 007 logo, Bond number plates on the back of the rear wings as well as pit garage graphics inspired by Q’s MI6 Lab. Max’s car will run the number plate from the Aston Martin DB5 in Goldfinger (1964) while Pierre’s car will feature the Aston Martin V8 plate from The Living Daylights (1987).
Aston Martin Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner said: “Celebrating Bond at F1’s 1007th race was too good an opportunity to miss given our title partnership with Aston Martin. Showcasing the world of James Bond here at the British Grand Prix, our second home race of the season, is really exciting. Aston Martin is inextricably linked to Bond and his cars have become truly iconic so we’re really looking forward to this weekend at Silverstone.”
Aston Martin Lagonda president and group CEO, Dr Andy Palmer said: “Aston Martin is proud of its association with James Bond. This weekend, we look forward to celebrating this longstanding partnership at Formula One’s 1,007th Grand Prix.”
