Jos regarding Max' first pole: 'Unbelievably exciting'

Jos Verstappen, also present on the Hungaroring, saw with his own eyes how his son remarkably took his first pole position. “I don’t know if the lap was perfect or not, but it was good enough!”, says Jos with a big smile in front of Ziggo’s camera.

“Before we headed off to Hungary, we knew that this was a circuit where Red Bull would be able to perform well. But then it still needs to be shown. Max already had a very good feeling yesterday”, says Jos.

Verstappen sr. continues: “It was unbelievably exciting: in the first sector just a few hundredths slower, in the second one barely but Max made up for everything in the final corners. It was just grand. Pole position is important for the team, just like how the past few weeks have been. For Honda as well, they have now also taken pole.”

“All the pieces of the puzzle are now coming together and we need to make sure that we have a very strong second half of the season and extract the most out of it”, Jos concludes.
