Pirelli, Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier, have announced the tyre choices the respective teams have made for the Russian Grand Prix. During the race weekend in Sochi the teams have at their disposal three compounds: the C2, C3 and C4. The C2, the hardest compound, is the white striped one. While the C3 (medium) and C4 (soft) are respectively striped yellow and red.
From the top teams, it is clear to see that Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and Ferrari are in one accord regarding their tyre selection. Their four drivers will all start this race weekend on nine sets of the softs, three sets mediums and one set of the harder rubber. Mercedes will have their drivers run on eight sets of the soft compound. Apart from that, Lewis Hamilton also has four sets mediums and one set of the hard compound. Valtteri Bottas has three medium sets and two sets of the hards at his disposal.
Renault, Haas F1, Racing Point and Alfa Romeo have gone all-in with the softs. They have all opted to run on the maximum amount of ten sets of the red striped tyre.
