The German Grand Prix was won by Gerhard Berger. The Austrian made a perfect come back with his victory and his pole position. Michael Schumacher finished second and Hakkinen took the final place on the rostrum. Jos Verstappen finished the race in 10th position. Mika Salo had to give up with a broken clutch in the 34th lap. Jos was happy to have finished the race but dissapointed in the speed-difference with his opponents. He realized that he was quite lucky to see the chequeed flag as he ran out of fuel on the slowing down lap.

The full results, championship standings and a race report are now available on our season page.

During the warm up this morning Jos set the 20th quickest time. He was clocked at 1m49.418s and was a second slower than teammate Salo who ended up in 19th position. The quickest time on the dry Hockenheim track was set by Jacques Villeneuve. The Williams driver set a time of 1m45.006s which was good enough to stay ahead of Damon Hill and Giancarlo Fisichella who ended up in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
