Formula 1 using the same tyre specs next season

Pirelli, Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier, have announced that after analyzing all test results and team reviews of the latest test in Abu Dhabi, a vote had been held involving the Formula 1-teams. The result of this vote was a unanimous decision to maintain the tyre specification, that was used in the 2019 season, in the 2020 campaign as well.

Pirelli, the FIA and the Formula 1-teams have all considered numerous aspects upon taking this decision. Teams e.g. do not have to take into account a new type of tyre when designing a new car. This means that teams will be able to continue developing their 2020-cars without any delays. Some of the cars being designed are already in a very advanced stage of development.
