During the warm-up this morning Damon Hill set the fastest time (1:38.031), followed by Eddy Irvine (1:38.061), Villeneuve, Michael Schumacher, Herbert and Alesi. Times were a lot slower than yesterday because it started to rain heavily when the warm-up session at Silverstone began. During the warm-up the circuit dried up a bit and the times got better.

Jos eventually set a 15th time (1:41.039), teammate Salo a 14th time (1:40.652). Ralf Schumacher ended his session in the gravel.

The qualifying times of Norberto Fontana have been disallowed after he missed the weight check after the qualifying session. He will have to start from the end of the grid behind Rubens Barrichello.
