Max reveals special red/white/blue helmet in Austria

Published on 09 July 2020 by Niels Hendrix

Upcoming weekend, the second race of the 2020 Formula 1 season will be held at the Red Bull Ring. After the Austrian GP last week, this event will be labelled as the “Grosser Preis der Steiermark”(the Styrian Grand Prix).

Sadly, this year, Max will not be able to rely on the tens of thousands of his fans cheering him on from one of his three Max Verstappen grandstands. “Of course, it’s a shame to not have the fans around”, said Max.

Nevertheless, Max will sport a special helmet during the Styrian Grand Prix. “A race in Austria is always special for me and I used to drive with a special helmet design in the last couple of years. I went for something different this year as well. In contrast to the yellow designs we came up with together with Jumbo, and we used for the last two years, we’re going for a red, white and blue theme. That’s also because of the many Dutch fans that have visited here the last few years. They’re not able to be here this year, but to honour them, I’ve chosen this red, white and blue design. I’m very happy with it. It looks great and will really stand out. Hopefully Sunday will be a good race.”

Of this special red, white and blue helmet, a 1:2 scale model is made by helmet manufacturer Schubert. This model is now available on Verstappenshop.nl. In the web shop you can also find 1:2 versions of Max’ ‘normal’ white 2019 helmet and the orange helmet he used at Spa in 2019. The ‘normal’ white with gold 1:2 scale model (2020) is still in stock in both the Max Verstappen store in Swalmen and online at Verstappenshop.nl.
