Max Verstappen finished third in the final free practice at Silverstone. The Dutch Aston Martin Red Bull Racing driver only had to tolerate both Mercedes, at exactly three tenths, in front of him. Valtteri Bottas set the fastest time, followed at one tenth by world champion Lewis Hamilton.
It is considerably cooler than the sunny Friday, when the third free practice at a cloudy Silverstone starts. Only after 25 minutes comes Max for the first time out on track, on the soft compound tyres. At the same time mechanics are working hard on the car of Alex Albon, after some electrical issues were found. Hamilton and Bottas are then setting the fastest times.
After his first flying lap (1:27.335) Max is in third position. He improves that time to a 1:26.917 and a 1:26.588 to a final 1:26.173, on a new set of soft tyres. Also both Mercedes keep improving and stay a couple of tenths ahead of the Dutchman. Bottas finally with a 1:25.873 the quickest on the Saturday morning.
Albon comes out on track with only fourteen minutes to go. His first meters after his crash halfway the second free practice on Friday. The British Thai finishes the session in thirteenth.
The pink Racing Points are seen in the beginning of the session in front with Lance Stroll in P4 and substitute Nico Hulkenberg in P9. McLaren has Carlos Sainz in P5 and Lando Norris in P7. Ferrari has to settle with Leclerc in P6 and Sebastian Vettel in a disappointing P14.
