Max starts Tuscan GP weekend well with P2 and 32 completed laps
Published on 11 September 2020 by Stefan Meens
Max Verstappen completed 32 laps and clocked the second fastest lap during the opening practice session of the Tuscan Grand Prix. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) was quickest in the first ever Grand Prix hosted at Mugello. Charles Leclerc, Ferrari, completed the top three.
Whilst several riders at the start of the session opt to run the medium tyre, Max choses the hard Pirelli compound for his first laps of Mugello. Nevertheless, Max is quickest after half an hour. Both Hamilton and Leclerc, in second and third place, set their times on the mediums.
Just after the halfway mark, most of the drivers continue on the soft tyres. Bottas is quickest, followed by Max and Leclerc.
In the final fifteen minutes, most drivers attempt another run on red-walled soft Pirellis, but it doesn’t lead to any changes at the top of the leaderboards.
