Eifel GP: First practice cancelled due to bad weather
Published on 09 October 2020 by Stefan Meens
The first free practice session of the Eifel Grand Prix has been cancelled. The weather conditions at the Nurburgring, including fog, meant the medical helicopter could not be deployed, meaning no official session could take place.
At the start of the session, it is wet and cold, with the temperature only just reaching double digits. Race Control decides to postpone FP1 by 30 minutes, in the hope the conditions improve enough for the medical helicopter to fly.
After the initial half an hour wait, the weather has not improved and the session is further delayed until it is ultimately cancelled at noon local time.
