Jos Verstappen had to give up early ...

Published on 10 August 1997 by Verstappen Info Page

Jos Verstappen had to give up early unfortunately. The Dutchman faced the same problems he had in the Canadian Grand Prix, a defective pneumatic system. Because of this Jos was unable to change gears. Despite this Jos was not too unhappy about the weekend. He was happy to have been the quickest Tyrrell driver over the weekend. As many of the Goodyear runners, Jos had problems with the tyrewear. "Especially the second set was bad", he said. Verstappen again suffered from some pain in his back. Because of the heavy steering on the twisty Hungaroring the results of his Magny Cours crash played up again.

Next week jos will take place in a Tyrrell again. On Thursday the new 1998 car will be tested again at Silverstone.

Michael Schumacher was the quickest man in this morning's warm-up. He set a time of 1m16.993s. Jos Verstappen had to be satisfied with 18th place and a time of 1m19.332s which was a second quicker than teammate Mika Salo. The Finn is in 21st place with a time of 1m20.778.
