Four years after Jos Verstappen another Dutchman ...

Four years after Jos Verstappen another Dutchman won the Marlboro Masters trophy. Today Tom Coronel won the Formula 3 race, which lasted 35min52.569 and 32 laps, after an exciting fight with Frenchman Sebastien Philippe. Philippe, who started from pole, led the race for quite some time and at first even gained some seconds over Tom who quickly moved up from fourth to second position. Halfway the race Tom stirred up his engine some more after having saved his tyres for the first half of the race. Towards the end Tom overtook the Frenchman majestically and didn't give up the lead anymore. Another Dutch talent, Donny Crevels, also did very well and finished on an eigth position. Not bad for someone who only has driven a handful of F3 races.

Tom Coronel is leading the Japanese F3 championship with 42 points. His first opponent, Takeshi Tsuchiya, has 25 points and so Tom could afford to skip a race in Japan and come to the Netherlands. Several Japanese F3000-teams are interested in Tom Coronel who has assured himself from the services of "wichtige" Willy Weber. Again The Marlboro Masters was a succesful event with 71.000 visitors, 14.000 less than last year when Jos Verstappen gave an F1 demonstration with the Arrows.
