Olivier Panis has made a remarkable F1 return, almost 3 months after his heavy crash in Canada where he broke both his legs. In a practice run on Magny-Cours, Olivier equalled the 1:14.5 time also set by Michael Schumacher when he grabbed the pole position for the French Grand Prix in June. Alain Prost said: "To drive as he did from his first lap...will remain engraved for ever in my mind. To do a time like that on his return to the track is amazing." Panis said he was thrilled to be back in an F1 car but would only go back racing again if he felt completely OK again. His comeback is planned for the Luxemburg Grand Prix on September 28.
