A day after Max Verstappen claimed his second Formula 1 world title after a dominating victory at the Japanese Grand Prix, Oracle Red Bull Racing have reacted ‘surprised and disappointed’ to the FIA announcement that the team has breached the 2021 Financial Regulations.
Red Bull have committed a Procedural Breach and a Minor Financial Overspend (less than 5% of the Cost Cap), according to the FIA, with the latter not having made a decision on any potential penalties. Meanwhile, Red Bull have stated: "Our 2021 submission was below the Cost Cap limit, so we need to carefully review the FIA's findings as our belief remains that the relevant costs are under the 2021 Cost Cap amount.”
"Despite the conjecture and positioning of others, there is of course a process under the regulations with the FIA which we will respectfully follow while we consider all the options available to us."
Two other teams did not receive a ‘Certificate of Compliance', Aston Martin and WIlliams. Both did not breach the budget cap, but were found to have made a procedural breach of the regulations.
