Max Verstappen gave a spectacular demo today during the Red Bull Racing Home Run in Milton Keynes. The extremely successful season of Red Bull Racing in Formula 1 was celebrated close to the homebase in Milton Keynes. Featured were different race car and bike demo’s from the Red Bull-family.
Verstappen and team mate Sergio Perez treated the many fans, who stood alongside the track on the street, to a demo with the championship-winning Red Bull Racing RB7, equipped with the very loud V8-engine, from 2011. The gents put the cars through their paces with a great many burn-outs and donuts.
When the smokescreen has cleared up and Max climbs out of the RB7 after his demo, the crowd cheers him on as he says: “It’s very busy towards the end of the year, but it is incredible to be doing this in Milton Keynes. I appreciate it that so many came out here to watch and cheer us on. It is also very nice that everyone is having a good time, and that’s the most important thing. It was of course very cold and slippery and I tried to dry the tarmac with the flames that were coming out of the car”, the two-time world champion wittily remarks.
Due to the fact that the demo is held in Milton Keynes, where the Red Bull Racing factory is also based, just adds to the ambiance according to Verstappen: “Milton Keynes is Red Bull and Red Bull is Milton Keynes. I have been a part of the Red Bull-family for a long time now and Milton Keynes feels like a second home for me. On all the team members there is a lot pressure to perform, but they also deserve all the praise for our great achievement and I am also very happy to be a part of this great team.”
Now that the 2022-season is done and dusted, it’s time for a well earned break, after which the sights will be set on the coming season: “I’ll think about that after January 1st. First I need a little break”, says Max. “But, of course we are looking forward to next year. We know that we can do even better and we are very excited for next year’s car already.”
Not only were there demo’s from Max and ‘Checo’ in the RB7, Sebastian Loeb (nine-time world rally champion), was also present. Apart from that, a thundering NASCAR-motor car and drift cars were showing their stuff in Milton Keynes. Also, freestyle motor crossers were pulling off dare devil stunts.
