FIA and F1 approve the use of extra engine parts in 2023

The Formula 1-teams and the FIA have reached an agreement regarding widening the number of engine parts in 2023. The teams will be allowed to use not three but four components, from four out of the six PU-parts, during the current race season. This change will only be for 2023.

The FIA’s World Motor Sport Council reached an agreement last Tuesday on the use of more PU-parts than was initially agreed upon. For the turbo, ICE, MGU-K and MGU-H the maximum has gone from three to four. For the control electronics and energy stores the number remains at two per season.
