Thierry this weekend in Zandvoort in action in DTM: 'Worked hard'

Published on 23 June 2023 by Niels Hendrix

From Friday June 23 to Sunday June 25 2023, the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) will race at Circuit Zandvoort. It will be a fantastic race weekend with plenty of motorsport in different categories. The main event is the challenging DTM race, which returns to Circuit Zandvoort after an absence of four years.

Verstappen.com Racing is represented in the DTM by Thierry Vermeulen, who drives a Ferrari 296 GT3 run by Emil Frey Racing. After his first weekend in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup, the 20-year-old Dutchman made his debut in the competitive DTM in Oschersleben, Germany. The second DTM weekend will take place in front of his home crowd, on the dune circuit in Zandvoort.

Thierry says: “Round 2 of the DTM is my home race at Zandvoort, so of course I am very much looking forward to this. I’m sure the atmosphere will be great and it’s so nice to be back here after the last year’s GT Masters, which was a good weekend overall.”

“Of course, it’s a different car and a different team, so let’s see where we are this year. We’ve worked hard from Oschersleben to Zandvoort to fix some technical issues and overall improve the car. And of course, I’ve reviewed everything on my side to keep pushing and make some steps forward.”

“Qualifying will be key in Zandvoort, as it’s an old school track where overtaking is not as easy as on other tracks. Luckily the pitstops give some strategy opportunities to make the right calls and maybe gain some positions, in Zandvoort that will play a big role as tyre degradation will be quite big so let’s hope we can play that to our advantage. I hope to see many Dutch fans enjoying the return of the DTM to Zandvoort!”
