Thierry looks forward to the DTM event at the Norisring: 'Excited'

Published on 06 July 2023 by Niels Hendrix

Verstappen.com Racing is represented in the DTM by Thierry Vermeulen, who drives a Ferrari 296 GT3 of Emil Frey Racing. The 20-year-old Dutchman will make his appearance the upcoming weekend during the third round of the DTM championship, at the Norisring in Germany.

Thierry is looking forward to the event: “On to round three of the 2023 DTM season and we are headed to the Norisring this week. The first street race for me since a while. The last one was Jeddah for me with Porsche, so I am very excited about this weekend.”

“I’ve been watching the DTM race on this track for many years and also Max going there with Formula 3, so I have many cool memories. I am excited to finally be able to give it a shot there myself and head to the street track, that is a very different type of circuit compared to all the other ones this year.”

“First of all, a lap is under 50 seconds which of course is very strange, as we don’t see that much on European tracks. So it will be tough to find a clear gap during qualifying and also to get everything out of the lap as there are only few corners and the gaps will be ultrasmall this weekend. So we will have to maximize everything here and Friday is very important to get comfortable with the track.”

Thierry has worked hard ahead of the Norisring event. He says: “In order to prepare myself as much as possible for this weekend, I visited Team Redline and teamed up with Kevin Siggy to get a good SIM preparation and learn all the tricks for this track. It was a very helpful experience and I am grateful for the opportunity.”

“Final training days now before the weekend to feel fit and ready. I have recovered well from Zandvoort and reset my mind, so I am fully ready for the DTM event at the Norisring.”
