Verstappen.com Racing is represented in the DTM by Thierry Vermeulen, who drives a Ferrari 296 GT3 of Emil Frey Racing. The 21-year-old Dutchman made his appearance last weekend during the fifth round of the DTM championship, at the Lausitzring in Germany.
Thierry reflects: “Round 5 of the DTM is finished, again a positive weekend overall. First of all congratulations to Jack Aitken for winning his first DTM race and also to the team, that worked very hard. It is nice to see hard work being rewarded this way. They did a great job all weekend by staying focused and getting the car in the window, which is not easy at the Lausitzring which is a very technical track.”
“As far as myself is concerned, in qualifying 1 I lacked a bit of pace which was a shame as the car was really strong on Saturday, but I couldn’t get the maximum out of the package. But for the race we stayed focused and we kept working on the car and I started P7. I stayed there for the beginning of the race and the pace was okay, but I still lacking a bit compared to Jack. During and after the pitstop we lost quite a bit of time, so that’s something we looked into afterwards as we really wanted to improve that for Sunday race. I finished P9 in the end for both races. Overall, a solid weekend and we got some good points again. Six races in a row in top ten, hopefully we can keep that going. And maybe top five will come soon.”
Thierry concludes: “We will work hard now for the GT World Challenge in Hockenheim and hopefully we can get that podium. So definitely happy on my end, big thanks again to the team. The car was really strong and I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
