The 2023 Formula 1 season still has six Grands Prix to go, but Oracle Red Bull Racing has already claimed the constructors' title. It's an unbelievable feat, made possible in no small part by the 400 point Max Verstappen has earned racing on track.
On the significance of winning in Japan, the home of Red Bull's engine supplier, Dr. Helmut Marko reflects proudly: “(It is nice to win) here in Japan, the Honda factory is just a few kilometers away. The way Max drove today, it was unbelievable. The start was not the best, but he still controlled both McLarens, and once in the lead he was controlling the race."
In Suzuka nothing seemed to be able to stop Max: fastest in all free practices, pole position, race winner and he also set the fastest lap. Dr. Marko believes: “Max was really motivated after Singapore. We have to say, we still don't know what really went wrong, but we proved that it was a one-off, and we're looking forward to the rest of the season."
This success requires work, Dr. Marko explains: “It's a combination of a team which is very passionate and motivated, and most of the people have been working for a very long time together. On top, (we got) a very good engine from the Honda side. And the passion of all the members of the team, and an outstanding driver."
