Tyrrell has revealed a part of it's drivers line-up for 1998 with the confirmation of the signing of Toranosuke Takagi as a driver for 1998. This was announced today in Tokyo. Toranosuke, or shortly Tora or Tiger, is this year's official test driver for Tyrrell and the protégé of Tyrrell's former pilot and current Sporting Director Satoru Nakajima. Takagi has combined his Tyrrell testing duties this year with a second season in the highly competitive All Japan Formula Nippon series, the Japanese equivalent of F3000, where he has secured pole position in four of the seven rounds to date.

PIAA will continue it's role as major sponsor of Tyrrell next year. Bob Tyrrell, Managing Commercial Director of Tyrrell, explained: "We have long enjoyed a close association with Japan, and we are delighted with the continued support of PIAA as a major sponsor."
