Just like last year, the Portuguese GP ...

Just like last year, the Portuguese GP is in jeopardy. The FIA has added the Portuguese GP to the 1998 calendar on the condition that the circuit would be adapted to the new regulations. Last year this caused the GP to be moved from Portugal to Jerez in Southern Spain.

This time construction works have been stopped because the government had outsourced the works to a contractor without asking for offers from different companies. They had done this to gain time. Due to delays in the construction work it already was impossible to start testing at the circuit in February 1998. Now it will definitely take longer to complete the work, if it ever will be completed at all.

Tomorrow Jos Verstappen will be present at the opening of a new branch of Exact Software in the Science Park in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Exact is the personal sponsor of Jos and the opening will be late in the afternoon.
