Verstappen.com Racing is represented in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup (GTWC Sprint) by Thierry Vermeulen, who drives a Ferrari 296 GT3 of Emil Frey Racing. The 21-year-old Dutchman made his appearance last weekend during the event at Brands Hatch in Great Britain, the first round of the season. Thierry Vermeulen and his teammate Altoe Giacomo finished second in the second race.
“I’m very happy with our first podium of the season, glad it came on the first GT World Challenge weekend of the season”, Thierry says, after having qualified third for the race. “We worked very hard for it and this is exactly how we wanted to start the season. A bit of a shame of the penalty in race 1 which resulted in a P11 instead of P5 which would have been good points for the championship.”
Thierry adds: “We made up for it in race 2 where we had a good first stint keeping third position. We also had a good driver change and Giacomo brought it home in P2. The race was quite straightforward and we had good pace all around. I am extremely proud to finish P2. For the next races of course we have to keep working on some small things and hopefully continue these kind of results, but I am very proud of everyone involved. So thank you to everyone.”
The team now heads to the Lausitzring and then on to Misano, for the second round of the GTWC.
