Negotiations are still going on about the staging of the French Grand Prix. This Grand Prix is not on the FIA calendar up until now because of a dispute about the broadcasting rights. Today Max Mosley of the FIA and the French minister of Sport, Marie George Buffet, have had talks about this matter. Before the FIA puts the GP back on the calendar they demand "clarification" of the French law on this subject. The dispute is about the exclusivity of broadcasting on TV. The French minister has declared that the government will do everything to stage the race. To be continued...

The British BAT-Reynard team gets it's final shape more and more. BAT will have 50% of the shares. The other 50% is divided among chassis builder Adrian Reynard, Villeneuve's manager Craig Pollock and the former manager of Ayrton Senna, Julian Jacobi. The team has already bought an engine, propably the Mecachrome V10. Jean-Christophe Bouillon will do the testing in 1998 and in 1999 Jacques Villeneuve and Dario Franchitti will be the first driver's for the team. The last details will be revealed on December 2 in London.
