McLaren will be the first topteam to change from Goodyear to Bridgestone tyres next year. Earlier this year the team of Ron Dennis had some critisism about the Goodyear rubber. Engine supplier Mercedes has already a good relationship with Bridgestone. The Silver Arrows from the FIA GT championship and the DTM/ITC cars from Stuttgart used the Japanese tyres.
Apart from McLaren Sauber is said to be interested in a Bridgestone deal.

Jackie Stewart was surprised to hear that his team should be in financial problems. "Not at all" the Scottish former worldchampion said. The '98 budget of the Stewart team is said to be bigger than this year despite the loss of some sponsors.
