Besides Tyrrell Sauber as well launched it's new challenger, the Sauber Petronas C17. New with the team is ofcourse Jean Alesi who will driver alongside Johnny Herbert. Jorg Muller is test driver for the team. Teamboss Peter Sauber said about the pair: "With Jean Alesi and Johnny Herbert we have one of the strongest driver pairings, we have improved the already proven and reliable Sauber Petronas V10 engine, and in our new Red Bull Sauber Petronas C17 you will find the experience and knowledge we have gained over the past five years." Sauber plans to have more podium finishes this year. According to Osamu Goto, in charge of development of the Petronas engine, the new engine is lighter and more powerful.
