Mika Häkkinen gave McLaren's new MP4-13 its first mileage at Le Castellet. The Finn drove about 20 laps in the morning before unspecified problems forced an unplanned pit visit. In the afternoon Häkkinen drove another five laps before the gearbox gave up. The team of Ron Dennis will stay on the French circuit untill Wednesday.
