Yesterday McLaren, Williams, Sauber, Jordan, Tyrrell, Benetton and Minardi all tested at Barcelona. The McLarens were quickest but they were the only ones to drive the 1997 cars. Jean Alesi, Ralf Schumacher and Toranosuke Takagi gave their team some extra work as all three went off track.

According to Bernie Ecclestone there will definetely be a Formula 1 race in China next year. The Briton expressed this in an interview with a Chinese newspaper. The Grand Prix circuit is ready to receive the Formula 1 circus according to Ecclestone. Possibly there will already be a race at the Zhuhai circuit this year. This depends on the proceedings around the Belgian and French Grand Prix which both have yet to be confirmed officially.
