Mika Häkkinen has won the second grand prix of the season. With on his tail his teammate David Coulthard, both Mclarens where unbeatable and drove from the beginning to the end in front of the race. Behind them there was a hard battle for third position which Michael Schumacher took. A surprising fourth place was for Alexander Wurz, with Heinz-Harald Frentzen behind him. Jacques Villeneuve didn't come further than 7th place.

After technical examination Damon Hill was disqualified. The Jordan-Mugen of the Brit was underweight. It did not matter that much to the former World Champion as he only managed a 10th place today.
