According to German newspaper Bild Ferrari has offered Michael Schumacher another 150 Million German Mark to continue his Formula 1 carreer at Ferrari until the end. As main reason Bild mentions that Ferrari is trying to prevent Michael Schumacher from going to McLaren-Mercedes next year. Schumacher's current contract with Ferrari, with a 50 Million German Mark per year worth, ends at the end of 1999. After finishing his Formula 1 carreer at Ferrari Michael Schumacher could also become an ambassador for life with the Italian team. Manager Willi Weber has declared that no new negotiations have been started.

Having just returned from Australia Ferrari and Williams have already picked up a new round of testing at the circuit of Monza. Luca Badoer has driven 70 laps in an old Ferrari F310-B and clocked a best time of 1:27.322. Main test objectives were the handling and aerodynamics of the car. Eddie Irvine will continue the test. Heinz-Harald Frentzen took place behind the wheel of the Williams and clocked a best time of 1:25.660.
