See race report below. First some news items: Tom Walkinshaw has declared before RTL5 television that he now owns 100 percent of the Arrows team, instead of the 51 percent he previously owned. Jacky Oliver who sold his 49 percent share is now sporting director of the team.

Next tuesday and wednesday Arrows will again test for Bridgestone on the circuit of Magny-Cours.

Rumour has it that three mechanics from Benetton will go to the Arrows team.

Just as Renault Elf will retire from Formula 1 in 1998. Tag Heuer has closed a deal with the FIA and will be responsible for timing until 2001.
