The warm up session again showed that the McLarens are beatable. On a wet Buenos Aires track Jean Alesi was surprisingly the fastest man. The Sauber driver outpaced Mika Häkkinen by half a second while setting a time of 1m47.597s. Ironically Alesi's teammate at Sauber was at the bottom of the list. The Englishman had problems and did not complete a flying lap.
